Treasurer

City of Joondalup

Email ME

Tom McLean is our Treasurer and has been a member of the Board since March 2007.

He is a City of Joondalup Councilor (since May 2006) and a retired accountant.

As an accountant he worked for national and multi national companies in and around Perth for 35 years.

He has lived in Connolly for 15 years, is married to an accountant, has two adult sons (and you guessed it one is an accountant; the other is a pilot).

Tom sees small business as essential to the growth and stability of Joondalup and the Region and believes SBC North West Metro has a strong role in fostering innovation and development of this sector.

Having grown up through the transport industry and achieving State Managers positions in both business and associations, decided in 2000 to form a training company called Industry Training where all members of staff could be trained in all aspects of the Road Transport Industry.

In 2004 Alan purchased a small business called Vitali, changing the name to The Vitali Group. This group now wholesales and retails water purifiers and filters, along with magnetic therapy products, de-hydrators and various other home products such as Soy candles.

In the beginning, The Vitali Group distributed just locally, then progressed to on-line and now exports to Ireland, New Zealand and some of our Asian partners. Latterly the business has developed into website production and hosting.

From a diverse background and experience in both large and small business, Alan joined the Joondalup Business Association before stepping up and joining the board as an Executive Officer. This was followed by the natural progression of joining the Small Business Centre North West Metro Management Committee in the capacity as Secretary.

Living in the area for close to 14 years, Alan further believes in the need to help and aid other businesses to grow and prosper, and help develop the area into the future, through active participation in the SBC and the JBA.
